About the Apprenticeship

The Apprenticeship in Insurance Practice is a programme that runs over three years, which on successful completion, will result in the apprentice receiving a BA honours degree (level 8) in Insurance Practice awarded through IT Sligo, the education provider for the programme. The Apprenticeship programme is based on an 'earn and learn' model and the cost of the course is fully funded by the Government while the employer covers the cost of the salary of the apprentice. This means that the apprentices will work full-time in a role in Wexford with one day a week on average set aside for formal learning, through a distance learning module.

Qualifying for the programme

There are three ways to qualify for the programme. For those under 23 you must have a minimum of two leaving cert honours, with a pass in Mathematics and English or Irish. For students who are over 23 on January 1st of the year of entry, interviews and other selection tools will be used to assess suitability, replacing the minimum requirements above. Learners who have a full FETAC level 5 qualification or higher will also be eligible to join the programme. How to apply

There are four stages to the Apprenticeship selection and screening process and to qualify you must meet the criteria at each of the stages. You will be notified as you pass through each stage of the assessment process. Stages Screening Process Date Due
1. Online Application Form To apply, upload a copy of your CV. To find the job ad search 'Zurich Ireland Apprenticeship 2017' in the keywords section. You must meet the minimum educational criteria (PDF) 24.04.17
2. Online Tests Complete the short online Ability Test. It will include multiple choice questions - numerical, verbal and cognitive reasoning. A link to the test will be emailed to you. Make sure you conduct the test in an environment that is free from distractions (*there are a number of free online practice tests available). 05.06.17
3. Video Interview Conduct a short competency based video interview (approximately 25 minutes, using your smart phone, ipad or laptop).We will assess your motivation for the role, as well as some competencies identified as important such as customer focus, initiative, problem solving, team-work and planning and organisational skills. You will receive tips on how to prepare for this and will have time to practice. You will just have one chance to record your response, so make sure you conduct the interview in an environment that is free from distractions. 11.06.17
4. Assessment On successful completion of the first three stages of the recruitment process, candidates will be called to attend an assessment at our centre in the Wexford office on the 24th June. 24.06.17
