The Fund of REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts) is a unit-linked fund that gives access to predominantly commercial property by investing in a selection of Irish REITs established under the Irish Government's REIT legislation (2013).

How it works

A REIT is a publicly listed company whose main activity is the ownership and management of property-related assets. These can include offices, warehouses, retail/shopping centres, commercial sites for redevelopment and hotels. An Irish REIT must:

  • Distribute at least 85% of its property related income, net of management charges, by way of dividends to shareholders.
  • Generate at least 75% of income from property rental.
  • Have a loan to value of ≤50%.

The fund may also hold up to 20% of its assets in cash. In terms of currency, the fund is managed from the point of view of a eurozone investor. This fund is managed by Zurich Life Investments.
